Design Process

background
I designed a recital poster for the Visualizing Telematic Music Performance, a unique event involving collaborative performances with musicians from The University of Virginia. The performance includes playing alongside a handmade robot controlled through motion-capture suits. The overarching goal is to explore alternative methods of making music, especially when performers are not physically present in the same location.

Thought Process:

1. Bold, clean, but fun
2. Capture the mood and essence of the pieces
3. Tell a story, connecting two different settings into one, brought together through this robot and performance
Color Palette:

Challenges
The primary challenges came from feedback received during the final stages and the ongoing iterations, particularly with frequent changes to the date and other details on the poster. Determining the optimal placement for presenting text was also a recurring consideration.

For a smooth design process and collaboration, effective communication, flexibilty, and open-mindess was key.
Version 2
I created an alternative version for the University of Virginia, maintaining the core visuals while making subtle adjustments to color and information details.
